Age of Conan, A Wolf in Sheep’s clothing???

Filed under: Buzz, US Presidential Elections — rachel @ 6:09 pm

Funny thing I came across today, on the daily buzz here at Omgili: The phrase “wolf in sheeps clothes” came up in a whole bunch of discussions. Of course I immediately assumed that they all refer to one thing, say some politician or another. But to my surprise, it is just a common phrase being used world wide in many discussions on various topics. In one discussion, the phrase refers to a sound system in a Saab car, in another it refers to a different car, a Mazda 3 this time, and in yet another discussion it refers to a cell phone, though the use of the term there is obscure… In other discussions it actually does refer to a certain politicians, namely Barack Obama, and I have seen references to Mike Huckabee as well. Interesting, is it not? How one phrase is threaded throughout so many different topics. As it turns out “a wolf in sheep clothes” is a popular phrase these days, who knew?

Another frequent phrase is: Spoiler Alert. For reasons anyone can imagine. I mean, everyone is talking about new movies, new television shows, new games, and when you want to mention something others may have not seen yet, it is just common Internet courtesy to provide fair warning. So it’s not such a mystery that this phrase shows up in numerous discussions.

And, oh, I almost forgot, Age of Conan, just a game… nothing special…. some idiot on a horse (in this multi participant game) blocked a bridge and bugged a whole bunch of other players for a couple of hours. The video made it onto youtube, which in turn created some discussion on the topic. Not very interesting unless you are a player…

I’m not.

Have a great week!

Boobs make the world go round (just ask my five month old son)…

Hi! I’m Rachel! Nice to meet you!

I am the aspiring new blogger for Omgili.

Mom to one hansom baby boy. Married to Co-founder of Omgili.com, and filling my days of maternity leave by blogging for Omgili.

Anyway, I’m not whats interesting, there is so much more out there that is! Just look at all the new headlines creating jibber jabber over the Internet airwaves! I’m here to keep you informed and up to date on any and all discussions going on online.

How about that kid who slapped his mom? Simply awful! Omgili’s CEO, Ran Geva, asked me the other day what I would do if my kid ever did that to me and I answered without blinking that that would never happen to me! How do you raise a kid to act like that? It’s not just the public school system. It can’t be! You don’t learn to treat people like that in school! If you ask me it has to derive from examples at home, his mom is probably a battered woman and expects that kind of treatment.

No matter how you address a teacher or an adult (being first name or Sir), there is no excuse for a child with a mouth like that! As a child I would have been scared to address an adult in anything close to that manner. I assume that anyone who is not a sociopath would have that kind of common sense as well. (but you know what they say about assuming…)

Did you see that silly video about how the Internet is going to come to an end in the year 2012? It got a whole bunch of chat going on. But you know the real interesting thing about this video is that it probably would have hardly been watched by anyone if not for the boobalitious presenter, Athene. Athene has several posts on youtube, most of them with titles including the word “sex” and having little if anything to do with the act itself. I’m sure many a man (or a young boy) go in and watch in hope of catching a bare boob. Brilliant way to promote yourself online, if you ask me…

and yes, that’s why this post has the word boob in it’s title.

Another thing that caught my attention this week is the game Age of Conan. But I need to do more research on that topic before babbling on about it.

Diddley do

Filed under: Buzz, News — rachel @ 4:20 pm

Did you know Bo Diddley died? Yesterday.

Did you know Bo Diddley?

Bo Didley Chatter

I actually heard of him for the very first time today, and in a very random way. Apparently Nike used him in a recent commercial which is getting a lot of hype, I guess on account of Bo Diddley’s death.

But let me look into it a little further before babbling on about it…

O.K., So, Bo Diddley, whom I knew Diddly squat about 5 minutes ago was a great musician in the 50’s and 60’s, of the 20th century. He actually took the name as a stage name instead of his real name Ellas Otha Bates. With a name like that I would a stage name too. (Which leads me to think I might need a pen name since my name is not all that easy to pronounce either…)

So how did Nike come to use Bo Diddley in their commercial? They were actually leading with a different Bo, Bo Jackson. A football runnerback, (whatever that means, I’m a girl, I pride myself in not needing to know such stuff).

Anyway, Nike commercials always entertaining, always ahead of their time, and today very much talked about in forums and blogs around the web since Bo Diddley’s death.

RIP Bo Diddley.
