Spoof in Advertising

The video tab on Omgili buzz is always entertaining. One of the up and coming stars on that list, this week, is the “Wonderbra Vs. Cadbury’s Gorilla” flick. I brought both ads here for your reference.
Being a member of the marketing persuasion, I rushed to to see if there’s a meaningful discussion about the validity of spoof ads as original creations.
I was surprised and shocked (NOT!) to find that most of the discussions were about the size of the boobies or about that existential question regarding firm vs. bounce.
With all due respect to facebook, sex still rules the web. |
Achmed the Dead Terrorist

Number one on the “most discussed video” list this week is the amazing Jeff Dunham, with his side-kick, Achmed the Dead Terrorist.
The discussions about this video are all full of applause to Jeff Dunham. This guy is really spectacular. During his career he has created numerous sidekick puppet characters, Some of which are, Walter (The grumpy old man), peanut (The pink teenage puppet) and Hos’e, the Jalepeno on a stick. Look them up they are all hilarious.
Ludicrous Laws

The most discussed news item on Omgili buzz, this week, is an article, from BBC News, about a survey conducted by UKTV. Apparently, they found some ridiculous laws, in the British rule book. The top rankers in the survey were:
It is illegal to die in the Houses of Parliament (27%)
It could be regarded an act of treason to place a postage stamp bearing the British king or queen’s image upside-down (7%)
Eating mince pies on Christmas Day is banned (5%)
In the UK, a pregnant woman can legally relieve herself anywhere she wants (4%)
The head of any dead whale found on the British coast automatically becomes the property of the King, and the tail of the Queen (3.5%)
